The Blockbusters Are Back

Sun, sand, sea and summer blockbusters, isn’t that what summer is all about? It’s very nearly that time again when Hollywood goes into overdrive, churning out hit after hit in an effort to keep the idle summer masses entertained during the temperamental Irish summer.

2011 is to be the summer of the superhero with an array of spandex-clad, super-human do-gooders flying/beaming/battling their way to a cinema near you. Look out for X-Men: First Class, The Green Lantern, Captain America: The First Avenger and the world’s most lovable, mechanical saviours of the earth in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Don’t forget this summer also sees the release of The Hangover 2 and there is just enough time left to have your advert appear alongside the Wolfpack’s latest exploits. As the follow up to the most successful movie of 2009, this release is a guaranteed blockbuster smash hit for 2011 and perhaps holds particular resonance for Irish audiences as we venture back into beer gardens nationwide.

Don’t Just Tell Us, Show Us!

Foyer Demonstrations
To add brand experience to an on-screen cinema campaign in 2011, a dedicated foyer area is available for your promotional team to demonstrate products and interact with cinemagoers.

One such brand who previously took advantage of this amazing opportunity is Talktoeu. To reinforce their on screen campaign, they utilised the dwell time in cinema foyers to allow people to ask questions about the EU in a Video Booth with the help of promotional staff.
You can also further complement your demonstration with attention grabbing standees, positioned in high traffic foyer areas.

Good Girls Gone Bad

All this talk of superheroes but not a damsel in distress in sight.  The women of Hollywood are fighting back this year against the typical type-casting and stereotyping of today. Leading the pack is Cameron Diaz with her portrayal of a foul-mouthed, inappropriate educator-on-the-edge in Bad Teacher, a far cry from her usual dizzier, saccharin roles.

Similarly Jennifer Aniston is going against the grain in the comedy Horrible Bosses, the suspected sleeper hit of the summer, in which she portrays an appalling boss driving one particular employee slowly round the bend with unfortunate and even murderous consequences.

Dry-witted stand-up comedian Kristen Wiig, a woman so often alone in a typically male-dominated industry, leads a stellar heavily-female cast in the upcoming comedy Bridesmaids, an alternative take on the joy and excitement bestowed upon a pre-wedding Maid of Honour.
